52 Week Challenge~ Week 7 {Nebraska Portrait Photographer}

Yes, I missed a week. You find out soon enough why I have been off my game, in the meantime, here is week 7!

{LOVE} 'Tis the season for love, right? I had a wonderful Valentine's Day with my boys, with a nice supper and a wonderful card. Monster had a blast at the school Valentine's Day party and ran his little heart out.

My photo is of one of my loves. Horses. I grew up in the suburbs and took riding lessons starting at age 10. I showed horses in High School and even owned a few here and there. I was so blessed to marry a man with the same passion and we currently own two Quarter Horse geldings. We live on a ranch where I can look outside and see all the boys grazing, playing, or relaxing. There truly is nothing like living in the country.

Their eyes tell their story. Where they have been and how much love they feel for their owners. This horse's name is Johnny Popper, he is a beautiful palomino and is owned by our boss. He is pretty much the leader of the pack and is pushing the others away at the fence in hopes for a treat. My son can pick him out and says, "there's Popper!". The lighting is dreamy for me too! This for me is love.

I have to post a photo of my other two loves! My little cowboy-in-training!

52 Week Challenge (Weeks 4 & 5) {Nebraska Portrait Photographer}

I really have no excuse for not posting these on time. I had an idea for week three, and well that didn't happen.

So, here are weeks four and five. This month I am going to be better. Seriously. I need to shoot more to stay out of my Winter funk.

Week Four~ "On a Chair"

Ok, this one isn't literally on a chair. It's on the couch. My monster has decided that he doesn't need a nap anymore. We are in transition. This gets hard for momma, as I like to have my own "down time" during the day. We "rest" everyday together, whether watching a movie, or reading a book. Sometimes he dozes a bit and that just lets me know he needs his rest. This day he fell asleep with his Daddy. He is so peaceful while sleeping :-)

Week Five~ "Seeing Red"

This time I did a feeling instead of the actual color. I just love monster's "angry" face! He doesn't get mad often (I am lucky in that aspect) but when he does- watch out! I love practicing emotions with him. He sure does have a lot of empathy for being a three and a half year old. He has such a big heart.

Next week is "children's portraits", maybe I will actually get around to taking monster's three year photos! ;-)

Leave some love! Also, please visit Sweet Emotions Photography and see all of the photographer's participating in the 52 week challenge!

~C&B~ Cowboys! {Nebraska Child Photographer}

I had the pleasure of photographing these two little cowboys on the last day of the year! I usually don't shoot indoors, outdoors is my favorite, but as we know, it's Winter :-) We met up at their Grandparent's store and they had an amazing wall covered in brands. It was a perfect backdrop for these cuties!

What a sweet face!

Handsome

They even had some straw bales, I never pass up some straw bales!!

These boys were so sweet and I had so much fun! Hoping to work with them again in the future!!

Winter Wonderland {Nebraska Couple's Photographer}

I was asked by this lovely couple to get some photos for their Christmas cards. We had to reschedule our original date due to wind, and lucked out~ it snowed! They toughed out the cold and we got some really sweet winter photos with them and their adorable puppers!

This was my favorite shot! So cute!

Who needs a studio when you have a backdrop like this?!

I love how photogenic Yodi is!

So sweet ♥

I hope to capture more moments of these two, they are so sweet! Thank you for serving our country ~K~, you are MUCH appreciated!!!!

~S~ Family {Nebraska Family Photographer}

Have I mentioned I love meeting new people? This family was no exception!

I got a "grand" tour from young ~S~ of the old barn, every inch of it :-) I loved his enthusiasm for his favorite exploring place. ~R~ claimed she wasn't a cowgirl, I beg to differ! She stood tall in the saddle and certainly looked the part. She is a beauty and is sure to capture boys hearts soon! Middle ~S~ took a little warming up, but soon he was just as into the shoot as everyone else. I loved watching this family interact with each other, and laugh.

They are a true ranching family and I was so happy to capture these special moments for them!

Loved his boots!

She rocked it!
 The "old barn" was very cool to shoot!

Such a ham!

I think I will have many more requests for silhouette shots, and I am SO excited to do them!!

Country way of life is the only way to go!

They were so patient with me!

I hope to work with this family again in the future! They certainly had me smiling the whole shoot and were very patient with me as I came up with ideas on the fly! Thank you ~S~ family!!!

~Mommy & Me~ {Nebraska Family Photographer}

I was so pleased when ~B~ contacted me about doing a session with her and her son. I met them earlier in the Summer and they are so much fun to be around. The City Park in Valentine was still full of color and we had some great light that evening. I am so excited with how these photos turned out! The colors were AWESOME!

So sweet

I love this little man's green eyes!

Had to get some shots with the boots!

I snuck up on them, hehe!

Oh how I LOVE Fall!!

I hope to continue to work with this lovely family. I love being able to laugh throughout the whole session!

Remember, it isn't too late to book your Fall session! I am still offering FREE Holiday cards with sessions booked this month and in November! Contact me SOON before we loose all the color!

~S~ Family Reunion {Nebraska Family Photographer}

I am finally getting around to blogging my last session. (It's been a BIT crazy around here)

The ~S~ family contacted me back in July about their family getting together in September. Valentine, Nebraska was a central meeting place for themselves and their children.

They were staying at the Heartland Elk Ranch outside of Valentine, and I couldn't have been more excited! It was one of our first crisp Fall days, and we worked quickly to keep ourselves warm!

Grandchildren are such a blessing...

I love this generation photo..

These kids were so stinkin' cute!!

Oh so love even after all these years.

We really lucked out on a great location!!

I was so pleased this family asked me to capture these precious memories for them. I hope to see them again in the future and continue to watch their family grow.

LW Leather Model Shoot {Nebraska Photographer}

I  heard about LW Leather from my neighbor that had some custom chinks made for her daughter. I wrote an article for the The Fence Post and met with Lisa and watched her work for a bit. You could just see the passion she has for her business and her work. She knows what she likes, and won't sell anything but high quality leather goods.

I thought it would be a good idea for Lisa to have some photos of her products on the people who love them so much. I got a few neighbors together and we had some fun!

We took A LOT of photos that night, the light was PERFECT!! Here are a few of my favorites~

Love the color of ~J~'s chinks!

They kept saying they felt silly, but see girls, it doesn't look silly at all!

She was good, never hit me!

Such natural models!

These chinks are used on a daily basis!

I told him to look at the girls, and they said he couldn't be serious...I guess not! hehe

I can't wait to see what photos Lisa chooses for her website. It was so much fun taking these photos. Especially of a product that I would feel honored to own. We have another project in the works...stay tuned!

"Pet Faces" an IHeart Faces Photo Challenge (Nebraska Photographer)

Thank you to Mountain Expressions Photography for posting about this awesome photo challenge from IHeart Faces. When I saw that it had to do with pets, you KNOW what photo I thought of!

This is my absolute FAVORITE photo of my Son and his dog. Capturing a moment with both of them still is a challenge, let along getting one where it looks like they are both laughing, is priceless. I have this print as a magnet on my fridge and a huge wrap on my wall. Oh how I love these boys.

There is nothing like the bond of a boy and his dog.

Weekly Photo Week #31 {Nebraska Photographer}

It's been so terribly dry here this Summer. The heat has been crazy! We are getting a little bit of a break this weekend. It's going to be 85 tomorrow!! This is a BIG deal.

The other morning while I was out for my walk I took my camera along. We had finally gotten some rain so there was a bit of fog. I just loved how the light was hitting the hay bales. I used a bit of texture on this photo for some more drama. Not sure how I like it. Please share your thoughts!

Happy Friday!

Weekly Photo Week 30 {Nebraska Photographer}

I missed last week for traveling, but wanted to make sure to post this week.

It's been a CRAZY Summer! I'm sad to see it go so quickly. Especially since I have so much to still do for our wedding in October.

This Summer has been HOT. I have been bugging M this whole time about getting a pool, even just a little one, for our son to play in. We happened to find one this week in our shed! The luck!

Monster LOVES this pool, and so does the dog! He rarely "swims" in it, but does like to play with his boats and buckets, and I like to sit with my feet in it while he plays. It's a good thing to keep him entertained and not stuck in the house on hot days. The dog will get in sometimes and splash around too!

Ah Summer. I do love it, but I am looking forward to the Fall.

Monthly Color Challenge~ July~ Red, White, Blue {Nebraska Photographer}

It's that time again! This month's color challenge was Red, White & Blue. I had ideas, but of course they went right out the window as this month seriously flew by!! So, for the first time I am going to use photos from a recent session and wedding!

This family is so much fun!

I loved that each of the bridesmaids had different shoes, but same color, even the bride!

Until next time (stay tuned for blog posts from both of the sessions I did in CO and this beautiful wedding!). Next month is Rainbow Bright...hmmm.

Please visit Lynn Puzzo the next photographer on the list! We love your comments, so please show us some love!

Friday Photo Week 28 {Nebraska Photographer}

This week was nice. Got to see some friends, play outside, got the bottom of the house primed for paint. It is getting warm again~ boo. And we still need LOTS of rain.

I spent some time this evening with my boy outside and playing with some light. I have a session tomorrow and I always like to get into a "groove" the day before so I know what to expect (kind of) the day of a session. Plus, my session is with a three year old, so not far from my little monster's age!

I love this shot of my little man. He is getting better about listening when I ask him to pose for me. Of course, it doesn't last long, but what can I expect? Plus, I am one that likes shots like these, it shows his true expression when something catches his eye. It's not forced.

It's hard to believe July is half over already. Where did Summer go?

Until next time~ Stay warm!
