2012 In a nut shell... {Nebraska portrait photographer}

Hmm, one word to describe 2012~ CRAZY! Personally, I had a fabulous year! We moved and I truly believe it is where we are suppose to be in our lives right now. On top of that we got married! So, to say this was a monumental year would be an understatement.

I am not going to lie, moving scared the crap out of me. I had finally built somewhat of a client base in Colorado and was afraid to start over. However, it was possibly the best thing to do for my business. I started fresh, took a new look at what I was trying to portray, took some courses to help make my work better, and even joined a blog challenge to keep me out of a funk (did you guys like those posts?). It all worked.

I had three weddings this year, two in Colorado and one in Minnesota. Lots of traveling, but was able to get some sessions in with some loyal clients. I do not regret these trips at all. Weddings are seriously my favorite to shoot. The chaos, the stress, the speed, it's heaven for me! They say time flies when you are having fun, and weddings FLY by for me, I think I have fun ;-) Of course, I couldn't have done any of them without my trusty assistants, they truly are my second set of eyes, arms and legs. For that I thank them GREATLY!! You know you who are!

It took some time for my sessions to get picked up. I understand people need to see my work, they need to see ME and know that I exist in the area. It's hard to work up a client base from the ground, but I had some really great people in my corner. One of which made a note of always telling people what I did when she introduced me to people (and she knows EVERYONE!). At first I was bashful, but then I thought, "Yes, this is what I do, and I want people to know that!". So, to her I owe A LOT, again you know who you are, and I will be forever grateful for your support!

Thank you to my CLIENTS!! New and old. Thank you to those of you who took a chance on me and let me capture moments for you knowing I was new to the community. Thank you to those who made an effort to meet me while I was traveling to schedule sessions even though I moved away. I would literally be nothing without all of your support. I truly love what I do, and hope to make a lasting impression so I can continue to view you through my lens!

Of course, I wouldn't be anywhere without the support of my family. My son is understanding (as much as a three year old can be) about my office hours and knows that Mommy will always make time for him. My husband for "taking over" so I can have office hours and get my work caught up. And for also being my second pair of eyes while I edit. He can catch some things that I miss as I edit and create a session, and I am so lucky to have him.

Now to my favorite images of the year. Wow. This was really hard to narrow down. I had so many GREAT moments this year. (please visit my facebook page to see my album of great images from throughout the year)

I did three categories: personal, wedding and portrait.

Oh how I love this little Monster, I mean, Cowboy! He is my world and my favorite model!
~S~ April 2012

The colors at this wedding were my favorite of the year. This group was a lot of fun and well worth the drive to Fort Collins, CO!
~C~ Wedding June 2012

This by far is my favorite image of the year. It turned out EXACTLY how I envisioned, and that is a rare feat. It has also been inspiration for more silhouettes, which will turn into something special I hope next year!

I have a feeling that 2013 is going to be even BETTER then 2012! I hope to continue to expand my clientele and do some more traveling. As stated in a previous post, not a whole lot is changing come 2013. There is a new website, new email and new proofing system, all of which I am very excited about!

Overall, thank YOU for everything! I am so grateful for all my success in the last year and have learned from my mistakes.

See you in 2013!

Miss~A~ Christmas FUN! {Nebraska Children's Photographer}

It was last minute, but so worth it! I forgot how mobile one year old's could be! Miss A was such a trooper and loves to share with her Mommy, it was so sweet.

Concentrating on a yummy cookie!

She got pretty serious when she saw what was at the bottom of the bag...

Sunglasses! This one melts my heart

Her eyes are beautiful!

I loved how delicate she was with the ornaments, taking them off, putting them back on, so careful!

One by one....

My favorite shot of the day! The love of the Christmas tree!

I just loved my time with ~A ~ and her mom! I hope to work with them again in 2013!

Monthly Color Challenge~ Decemeber {Nebraska Portrait Photographer}

'Tis the season! It's time for the color blog challenge. Quick recap, a group of photographers and I have been challenging ourselves each month of this year. It was a way to utilize our blogs if we had been neglecting them, or just to challenge ourselves to bust out our cameras if they hadn't been used in a little while (which was the case for me a couple of months!). This month is green and/or red or silver and/or gold.

I have two holiday themed photos. The first is of our Elf on a Shelf, Bill. My son LOVED this tradition this year. Every morning the first thing we did was search for Bill. I am excited to continue this next year!

I did one more mini session before Christmas and spent a little time with this little cutie! She loved the bows, and ribbon her mom brought out. I forgot how active one year olds can be! But how much fun it was!

So this was our last color post of the year. I hope to do something similar next year, it's great to connect to more people in the photography community and challenge myself to do different things. Please continue onto Lynn Puzzo and see what she has come up with this month. Follow the circle and leave us some love!
Merry Christmas!

Winter Wonderland {Nebraska Couple's Photographer}

I was asked by this lovely couple to get some photos for their Christmas cards. We had to reschedule our original date due to wind, and lucked out~ it snowed! They toughed out the cold and we got some really sweet winter photos with them and their adorable puppers!

This was my favorite shot! So cute!

Who needs a studio when you have a backdrop like this?!

I love how photogenic Yodi is!

So sweet ♥

I hope to capture more moments of these two, they are so sweet! Thank you for serving our country ~K~, you are MUCH appreciated!!!!

Looking toward the future...{Nebraska Photographer}

2013 is quickly approaching. I have been working hard in the last couple of months on re branding and coming up with a fresh look for KH Imaging. Which includes this blog as my official website. I am loving it so far, and I hope you are too!

I am not going to change a WHOLE lot with pricing next year. Session prices are the same, but with a little twist. Instead of giving an 8x10 with a session, there will be print credits. This way you get the size YOU want. I hope this pleases all of you, so you have more of a choice. Each session will still include private online albums, locations of your choice, etc. (please visit Portrait Investment to see details).

This year I am going to let go of offering Senior Sessions. I will still shoot them if approached, but I want to concentrate on weddings and families. I won't turn anyone away if they wish for me to capture their senior year, I just won't be advertising for it.

My prints are changing a tad. I already offer HIGH quality prints to my clients. This year ALL prints 8x10 or larger will be mounted on matte board. This will give your prints a longer lifespan and easier to transport. Prices will reflect this change. I am also including more book options, card options, and HIGH quality gallery wraps. New this year~ METAL prints!

I am still going to offer disks of edited images, as I know this is desired. I did raise my disk prices just a little. As always, I do recommend anything larger then 8x10 be ordered through  me, so you receive high quality images. Unfortunately, print credits can not be used to purchase disks.

The referral program is not changing. The more people you send my way the more credit you will collect! As always, you can bank your credit for a free session!

If you haven't already, you will notice a Contact tab on top of this page. I love this feature as it gives me as much information as possible to better assist interested clients. Please remember, you MUST click "submit" in order for me to receive it.

If you have any questions please contact me! I am looking forward to a GREAT year with you!

~S~ Family {Nebraska Family Photographer}

Have I mentioned I love meeting new people? This family was no exception!

I got a "grand" tour from young ~S~ of the old barn, every inch of it :-) I loved his enthusiasm for his favorite exploring place. ~R~ claimed she wasn't a cowgirl, I beg to differ! She stood tall in the saddle and certainly looked the part. She is a beauty and is sure to capture boys hearts soon! Middle ~S~ took a little warming up, but soon he was just as into the shoot as everyone else. I loved watching this family interact with each other, and laugh.

They are a true ranching family and I was so happy to capture these special moments for them!

Loved his boots!

She rocked it!
 The "old barn" was very cool to shoot!

Such a ham!

I think I will have many more requests for silhouette shots, and I am SO excited to do them!!

Country way of life is the only way to go!

They were so patient with me!

I hope to work with this family again in the future! They certainly had me smiling the whole shoot and were very patient with me as I came up with ideas on the fly! Thank you ~S~ family!!!

Color Blog Challenge~ October~ Black & Orange {Nebraska Photographer}

It's time for the color blog challenge! This month was, of course, orange and black.

A little recap on what we are doing here. A group of fellow photographers and I are challenging ourselves and doing a color blog challenge. Each month we have a different color or colors to capture. October is a busy month for me, so it was a challenge.

We got some snow yesterday and I went out to shoot some photos of my adorable little monster. I love getting shots of him and his dog. Turns out, his coat is orange and our dog is black! :-) It works for me!!

I have so many shots like this, but I just love my boys!!

Please continue on to the next photographer, Lynn Puzzo, and see what she has come up with this month!

Only two more months to go!

An evening on the ranch ~D~ Family {Nebraska Family Photographer}

I adore this family. They are very close to my heart. My husband works for them, and even though we have only been here for nine months, they opened up their home for our wedding. That's right, they let a bunch of people they didn't know into their home and let us get married in their front yard. I am still in awe of their generosity.

I thought the least I could do was give them a session to capture special moments to last a lifetime.

~A~ had ideas for locations and we went scouting a little before shooting time. We hadn't lost ALL the leaves by the creek, so it was PERFECT. We found the most beautiful glow and went to work. Now, it took a little bit of time to warm up, and I mean just a little bit of time. We hit up a few spots by the creek then headed to their family sign. I had always envisioned a silhouette shot of this family on their horses, so we had to rush up to the hill before we lost the light. They let me drive their Ranger to get up the driveway and instead of taking it up the hill...I ran. Yes, I had a four-wheel drive vehicle and I SPRINTED up the hill to catch the light. Needless to say...I'm STILL feeling it today! It's all good though, it was well worth it! :-)

I really wanted to get shots of ~G~ & ~A~ together. I think it's extremely important to have photos of couples even when they have kids. It all started with two ♥

Just love them!!

Such a good looking family, they make my job easy!

Got the furry children in their too!

The newest addition to the clan, Gracie

These two did a lot at the fair this year, they work really well together

Oh Shadda wanted to hunt after this shoot, so badly!

This was a shot ~A~ had in mind, it turned out really good, even though the guys were "shooting" into the sun!

Oh and this was THE shot I wanted!!

Love how this one turned out too!

Like I said before I love this family to pieces and was so happy to capture these moments for them! I hope to continue to "shoot" this family through the years!!

~Mommy & Me~ {Nebraska Family Photographer}

I was so pleased when ~B~ contacted me about doing a session with her and her son. I met them earlier in the Summer and they are so much fun to be around. The City Park in Valentine was still full of color and we had some great light that evening. I am so excited with how these photos turned out! The colors were AWESOME!

So sweet

I love this little man's green eyes!

Had to get some shots with the boots!

I snuck up on them, hehe!

Oh how I LOVE Fall!!

I hope to continue to work with this lovely family. I love being able to laugh throughout the whole session!

Remember, it isn't too late to book your Fall session! I am still offering FREE Holiday cards with sessions booked this month and in November! Contact me SOON before we loose all the color!
