Friday Photo Post Week(s) 24 & 25 {Nebraska Photographer}

I am REALLY going to try to be better about my Friday posts. It's been crazy busy lately, but I really do need to be better about posting SOMETHING at the correct time!

My first photo is from our trip back to MN last week. We had such a good time with the family and got to see some of M's old friends at a wedding. It was the first time he saw me at work as I was the photographer at the wedding. It was fun, and all went well! We took some family photos while home since this was the first time all three grandchildren were together. We will get more in October, but this was a very special moment for all of us.

O grandparents and all the grandchildren

My second photo is from today. It was the last branding of the season and I couldn't have asked for better light. Seriously of all the brandings I have been to and taken photos, this one had the BEST light!! I looked behind us and saw this horse. Perfectly content waiting for his rider. No bridle or halter, not even grazing. Just perfectly still. Oh how I love these animals!!

Patience

Stay tuned for my color challenge blog post this week! Also, I hope to have my June 9th wedding blogged later next week too!!

Happy Friday!

Friday Photo Week 20 } Nebraska Photographer

As you know, I have been traveling with my son the last couple of weeks. I visited my in-laws and my parent's house. I did some relaxing at my Mom's (didn't do half the things I had planned on doing), and then the wildness began!

I found my wedding dress, oh it's nothing like I thought I would get. I had imagined a plain white dress growing up, then had thoughts of this lace keyhole back gown. I did go with the lace and straps, other then that it is NOTHING like I thought I would get. I love it!

My sister, mother and bridesmaid (my long time friend of 26 years) put on a beautiful bridal shower for me. I was blessed yet again with items M and I need. My son even got to taste pop for the first time! Yes, I am a mother that will NOT give my toddler pop. Oh and he snuck a sip of my champagne punch, lol. Thankfully he didn't puke.

Oh and then the bachelorette party. Let's just say this~ it was a blast! My girls know how to party!

I leave you this week with a photo of my absolute favorite place in the whole world. Lake Superior. No matter where I call home, this will forever be my HOME.

Happy Friday everyone!!

Friday Photo Post Week 17 { Nebraska Photographer

Ah, Friday again. A week from today I will be on the road with my little man on our way to my future in-law's. It will be the first of many road trips in the following two weeks. Bridal showers and family time, I love it! So, please forgive me if I miss next week or it's a day or two late.

So, this week I decided to reveal more personal information, don't worry I won't get TOO personal!

Growing up my Mother always told me that the way her Mother taught her how to cook was, "She gave me The Joy of Cooking cookbook and said to me, 'You know how to read, you know how to cook'". So, obviously, this is what my Mother did to "teach" me. I do not recommend this method of learning how to cook and M will attest to that.

When I moved in with M seven and a half years ago, I had my Joy of Cooking cook book, and I was ready...or so I thought. Seriously, we ate spaghetti, tacos, and I think I made meatloaf once, other then that it was Hamburger Helper. Wow, it's amazing I didn't weigh 300lbs.

When we moved into our house I got more creative. Purely because the previous owner had forgotten her recipe box and she had some really good ones in there! Spaghetti and tacos were still on the menu, but casseroles were added to the list. We got a grill and M started to cook more, well, grill anyways. Until we moved to Colorado, we had a steady menu of over and over and over again meals.

When I became a stay at home mom I vowed to try new meals. By this time I had perfected most back goods (my cookies, I'm not afraid to say, are amazing!) and I tried a new meal every week. Most of them didn't make the cut. I once made BBQ beef with cornbread on top, it sounded good at the time...the dog wouldn't even eat it, oops. The ones that make the grade get put in my giant book of recipes, pretty much a three ringed binder with the print outs.
My Recipe go-to

The best thing about all these new recipes is the ones we really like, we have when we have our parents visiting. Most of the time, my parents will ask for the recipe and they make it all the time too!

Over the last two and a half years we have tried lots and M has even started cooking more. He loves making Peach Cobbler and Chili (I don't dare try to replicate them, it never tastes the same).

I am glad I can share this with M. I hope when we are old and grey we are still finding new recipes to make together. Oh and Pinterest is the best site to find new recipes! Made one today with oatmeal and peanut butter, the little man LOVES it! And it's good for him! No worries, I won't be starting a cooking blog anytime soon.

Happy Friday! Go make something new this weekend and tell me how it turns out!

Family Session 9-26-11

I gave a friend of mine a gift certificate for her baby shower. I got a chance to redeem it while in Michigan. I hadn't met her handsome little man yet, and my heart just melted. I love this girl with all my heart and I feel the same about little ~S~. He was such a ham, even though it was nap time. I was right in my element too, seeing as they are farmers and we trekked around in the hay meadows and cow pastures! We even got a shot of Little ~S~ on one of their tame bulls, that was exciting!

I was in love with the fall colors up there.

How could I have asked for a better backdrop???

Blue jean baby! I had found that green and yellow shirt before I headed up north, and it was SO well with his John Deere hat!

Was sad I didn't get a chance to get together with them again, time just seems to fly! Hoping to see them when I return Thanksgiving weekend! Love you guys!

Family Session 9-25-11

A good friend of mine asked me to take her family photos while in Michigan. This woman is pretty much the reason I met my other half :-) We used to have so much fun when I lived just down the road many years ago! When I showed up we went right back into our normal spats back and forth, it was so much fun!

Smiles were all around as they laughed at each other and at me!

I fell in love with the corn when I showed up, this shot just made itself!

Oh teenage daughters :-) They are such a sweet family.

We had to bust out "Olly" the restored tractor. This is Grandpa's pride and joy!

I am so happy that I got to see this wonderful family again! The weather wasn't perfect, but we dealt with it, as always! Looking forward to taking ~M~'s senior photos next Summer! Love you guys!

9-7-11 Newborn

Catching up with my blogging is becoming a bit difficult! Seeing as it is October first, I plan on getting at least September blogged by my first October session (on the 7th).

On the seventh of September I met a beautiful baby boy! I made sure the room was warm, and was all prepared. However, I have found that I like nontraditional newborn photography. Let the session take itself. Maybe a few props, maybe a common pose here and there. For the most part, though, I like letting the child direct me. Let him sleep on the beanbag and snuggle up, detail shots are taken then. Let his Mom comfort him back into sleep, loving shots are taken then.

I love this one...he was giving them a present as I shot :-)
Oh little cowlicks...so sweet

So, as we all know I love to shoot the WHOLE time, to get the sweet candid photos. I love baby peach fuzz, I love little wrinkles. You will see those when I shoot newborns, that's what makes them so precious.

Little ~E~

I was fortunate enough to capture ~K~'s maternity photos last month, and now her little princess has arrived! Little ~E~ is so tiny and precious.

Look at that hair!!

I pretty much moved in for the afternoon, and we had a nice relaxed session. Lots of laughs, and tons of fun! I can't wait to work with the family again!
She was so alert the whole time I was there. Didn't want to miss a thing!

I love capturing moments like these. Being a Mother myself, I know how much love is felt for a new arrival!

Oh the facial expressions she was giving us! I couldn't stop snapping photos!!

My favorite shot of the day. This was all Mom's idea. She had seen a shot like this at her doctors office. I am so pleased with the way it turned out!

I think I have said this before, but newborns are quickly becoming a favorite session of mine! Gives me baby fever, which my Husband is always so thrilled about ;-)

Little ~A~

I shot my first newborn session on Sunday and had so much fun! She is so precious and you can just see the love her family has for her. Her big brother was a wonderful help and loves to get his photo taken. Little ~A~ was a little fussy, but we had ways to work around it. I am so pleased how the photos turned out.

I am now giving away two newborn sessions to add to my portfolio~ I only have one more left! If you book the newborn session and want maternity photos as well, you receive 50% off the maternity session~that's a GREAT deal!!

~L~ Expecting

Yeah! I can finally share some photos from the maternity session I had a few weeks ago. ~L~ was so much fun to work with! Her husband was a very big help as well! I offered him the job of my assistant ;-) They had ideas of their own and were open to the ideas I had as well. I loved being able to capture this special moment for them. Their youngest Son was so adorable and is so excited to be a big brother!
Can't wait to meet their little princess and take her photos!

~F~ Family

Had so much fun today! I met a wonderful family and we got a ton of great shots here at the Ranch. Still haven't used all of my resources out here, but we certainly used most of the homestead across the highway!

My little family...

Am so happy that I FINALLY got our family photos done! It helped having my In-Laws here to get Shaw's attention, and that way I didn't have to use my remote on my camera. I love all the locations we have to use on here on the Ranch, I haven't even begun to dig into the possibilities!

Got the rest of Shaw's 12 month photos done too, so excited about them!! We even got some aspen trees that still has some leaves on them. Beautiful day!!!

Expecting...

I had so much fun with ~C~ and her family during her maternity shoot. She won the drawing I had for expecting Mothers last month. Her little boys were so cute, and she's expecting another! She will be the Queen of the castle for sure! So glad I could capture these precious moments for her...
