Friday Photo Post Week 26 {Nebraska Photographer}

We have been pretty busy this week. In between editing my latest wedding, I still have the day to day activities and to add to the fun, we had Vacation Bible School.

I was really excited to have my son participate in VBS this year. I remember going as a young child, and looked forward to every day. I want my son to experience these things. Also, he is going on 3, we need to get him used to organized activities ;-)

We had three mornings of VBS, and each day was fun. My son LOVED the music time, and would stay in the circle the whole time dancing and singing with all the other children. He would sit for a little bit for craft time, though would want to get up and play shortly after we started.

He did decorate his backpack very well, and still continues at home!

Overall, I am so glad we did went. He surprised me each day by having his good and bad moments, more the third day as the activity caught up to him. I got to chat with the other moms, which I always enjoy. And he was exposed to organization. All good things preparing him (and me) for when he is off to school.

Definitely looking forward to next year!

Friday Photo Week 15

Here we are in the middle of April already. Things are blooming and the weather is on it's way! Well, that's what we are told. Tomorrow is going to be a doozie. We need the rain, so we have to take our blessings as they come to us.

This week I am posting some photos of my son I took this morning. I needed some shots with his cowboy hat on (with clothes, he tends to want to be naked more these days!) and thought it was as good a time as ever. Sometimes when I set out to do shoots like this, I'll have one good photo out of many. My son tends to not want to stand still and once he sets his sights on the swings, we're done. This time, however, I was floored. He gave me such expressions, I melted. I am so glad I caught him at the right moment!!

Happy Friday!

Sapphire Point Wedding

I was so excited for this wedding when the bride contacted me a few months ago. I had looked up other photographer's at this location and immediately was inspired! Rain or shine this location would shine!

~C~ contacted me about her intimate wedding back in March. She had mentioned her fiance's family was from Germany, and it really intrigued me. Working across the state is one thing, across continents, quite another! She was living in Pennsylvania at the time too! I love a challenge! Not that it was, we were very open with each other and sent emails frequently, and spoke on the phone if we needed to.

Having not been to the location before, I was a little weary the day of. But as stated above, this location was absolutely beautiful. I was a quick and sweet ceremony with the occasional tourist making his/her way down the hiking trail.

While taking photos afterward the chipmunks came out to beg for treats. ~E~ (the groom) was fascinated by them. We tried to get a photo of one of them eating from his hand...but they weren't THAT cooperative! lol Getting the entire group together wasn't as hard as I had anticipated either, everyone was willing and ready for all the photos I needed them for.

Overall, a great day! Look forward to possibly working with ~E&C~ again in the future, if they ever make it back to Colorado!

Loving my new "baby"

I recently took the plunge and bought some new camera gear. After a LONG debate, I bought a Canon 7D. I replaced all my old lenses and got new Canon ones. This was a hard process for me, since I learned so much on my Rebel Xsi, but I knew the switch was needed. The 7D does so much, and I am able to go further with my photos then I could with my Rebel.

Thank goodness I had learned how to shoot in manual mode on my Rebel, the transition was so much easier.

Getting to know ME...

I started this blog to help promote my business and for my clients to get to know their photographer. I wanted to share with you my other passions in life. My Son first and foremost, which I have shared a lot about him on this blog as well as my website, he is my favorite model. :-)

My other major passion in life is horses. I have loved them since I was a little girl. My father is a cowboy at heart and my Mom is afraid of them...go figure, hehe. I started riding lessons at a young age, and my passion for this animal grew.

I have owned four horses in my lifetime. The first being an Arabian mare~ never again! I don't get a long well with mares and especially not Arabians (no offense to those who love them). My next two were very special to me and I cried when I had to sell them. Both grade geldings with big hearts, but college was draining the bank account.

I went years without riding regularly. I rode friends horses, and worked at farms, so the passion was still there. Then I met my "husband". He is also a horse lover, and we view things similarly.

My latest love, Hank, is technically Matt's horse. At least, he is registered under his name. However, we both know that Hank is only loyal to me. Hank is special, and very sensitive to who rides him. He has had a lazy couple of years due to me having my Son, but this summer...oh we will WORK! hehe.

We had our first ride of the year today. I was expecting nervousness, barn storming, etc. He was an angel! He whinnied once, tried to go back to the barn once (and he barely tried, just tested) other then that, low relaxed head, nice relaxed trot and not a question as to where I asked him to go. I am so please with my fat horse! Yes, he is a tad overweight, but who isn't in the winter?? ;-)

AQHA~ Red Sonny Hank

My passion for photography definitely overflows to my passion for horses. As you can plainly see in my portfolio. I love these animals and I believe that there isn't a photo of a horse that isn't beautiful. Their eyes intrigue me because I long to hear what they are thinking.

I would like to believe that Hank has a love for me as I do him. He has carried me through thunder storms that would scare the average horse, he has carried me while pregnant and seemed to think about each step before taking it, almost making sure I was safe. He has carried both my Son and I on beautiful days and listened to Shaw and I sing together. He is a remarkable horse, and I will cry IF we ever sell him.

So there you are, some of "me". Some of you understand my passion and share it with me. Comment below and tell me your "horse love" story!

~J Class of 2011~

Had so much fun yesterday with J and his Mom. He was up for anything, and was willing to let me know if he wouldn't normally do that pose :-) We even got some in a tree! We went downtown to get some photos as well, and really enjoyed that. J was wearing a very nice purple shirt, so we tried to find some bright colors on the brick walls. I really like how the turned out and can't wait to hear feedback!!

Looking forward to many more Senior Sessions next year!

Expecting...

I had so much fun with ~C~ and her family during her maternity shoot. She won the drawing I had for expecting Mothers last month. Her little boys were so cute, and she's expecting another! She will be the Queen of the castle for sure! So glad I could capture these precious moments for her...

Little ~S~

Little S was such a trooper. She was willing to do almost anything for a shot, except lay on the wet grass, I don't blame her! hehe. It really seemed like she was enjoying herself and her Mom was a big help. The shots with her brother were adorable and you can tell she really loves being a big sister. Looking forward to finishing the rest of her photos and the possiblity of working with this family again!

Families

I had a blast with the W family yesterday! Even though little L made us work for some shots! We got sneaky and ended up with some really cute photos of her and her sister. I am so happy they asked me to take their family photos. This family has a great dynamic and I can't wait to get the rest of their photos done!
