Friday Photo Post Week(s) 24 & 25 {Nebraska Photographer}

I am REALLY going to try to be better about my Friday posts. It's been crazy busy lately, but I really do need to be better about posting SOMETHING at the correct time!

My first photo is from our trip back to MN last week. We had such a good time with the family and got to see some of M's old friends at a wedding. It was the first time he saw me at work as I was the photographer at the wedding. It was fun, and all went well! We took some family photos while home since this was the first time all three grandchildren were together. We will get more in October, but this was a very special moment for all of us.

O grandparents and all the grandchildren

My second photo is from today. It was the last branding of the season and I couldn't have asked for better light. Seriously of all the brandings I have been to and taken photos, this one had the BEST light!! I looked behind us and saw this horse. Perfectly content waiting for his rider. No bridle or halter, not even grazing. Just perfectly still. Oh how I love these animals!!

Patience

Stay tuned for my color challenge blog post this week! Also, I hope to have my June 9th wedding blogged later next week too!!

Happy Friday!

Friday Photo Post Week 23 {Nebraska Photographer}

Yes, I do know it's not Friday! I have been extremely busy recently but wanted to catch up the blog a bit. I will more then likely not post this week's Friday post until Sunday because I have a wedding this Friday in Minnesota.

So, this week's photo is of my son and his dog. I never get tired of taking their picture. I rented a 22-70mm 2.8 L lens for the weddings I am shooting and tested it out with these two.

This to me is the best view. My son LOVES to take walks down our driveway. Has even made it to the end and back (it's a mile round trip) but it helps him sleep! The thing is, we have to watch for snakes. We have had a couple in our yard recently. Both have been bull snakes, but one was 5' long!!! YUCK! Ah Summertime!

Here is to warm weather, the hope of more rain, and busy busy weekends!

Daycare Spring Photos {Nebraska Children's Portrait Photographer}

I recently borrowed an idea from a fellow photographer. In order to get my name out there in the area, I contacted all the babysitters in Valentine, NE. I dropped off fliers, kept in touch, and kept track of how much interest there would be for discounted portraits.

I had five interested families! I had a blast Thursday morning hanging out with these kiddos!

Little ~G~ wasn't too happy all morning, but we managed to get some pretty cute shots!
Little ~H~ smiled even through his ear infection!
I worked really hard to get ~D~ to smile, and it was so worth it!
Such sweet sisters ~A&A~
I love the look ~T~ is giving her brother ~J~!
~S~ didn't know whether to laugh or cry!

 I hope to see these children again along with their families!

Friday Photo Post Weeks 21 & 22 {Nebraska Photographer}

Yes, I missed last week, again! So making up for it with two photos this week.

This weekend will be my last weekend for the month of June that I am free. Busy and I LOVE it! Hoping to be able to have some family time this weekend.

Ok, so last week we branded a small bunch of calves. It ended up being a chilly rainy (we need it!) morning, but fun nonetheless. I even got in there and wrestled some calves! In each place we have worked, they have branded differently. Here in the Sandhills, they wrestle every calf, verses using snares like in Colorado. It can be hard work, but it makes things go so much faster. Plus, it's fun!

My Photo for week 21 is of M and my son. My son loves to look at all the calves gathered in the pen. You can see it on his face, he just wants to go play with them!

For week 22 I have chosen a photo of my friend's son. Last weekend was Circle C Days in Cody, NE. It's pretty much the biggest thing that happens in our small town, and it's been going on for 50 years! They have all sorts of events, and next year you will see our family out there!!! :-D

Next week I will post some sample photos from the lens I rented for the first two weddings of the season! REALLY looking forward to it!!!

Monthly Color Blog Challenge } Nebraska Photographer

I am a bit late on my color blog this month, I apologize!! It is a holiday weekend, after all!

This month our colors were yellow and/or blue. I went home this month to Michigan, as some of you may know. My first photos is of a daffodil, which I always love to see when I go back to my parent's house.

The second is my son on the beach of Lake Superior. I love this lake and this beach. When I lived there in high school, it was my go-to place to unwind and write in my journal. As I type this, a raging wildfire is consuming much of my home county. So far it has burned over 21,000 acres and isn't completely contained. It hasn't threatened my parent's home yet, but it has taken quite a few cabins and a beloved business. It's heartbreaking to see and it will look completely different when we go home again.

Please continue to the next photographer, Lynn Puzzo and see what we all came up with for this month!

Next month~ rainbow pastel...interesting!!

Friday Photo Week 20 } Nebraska Photographer

As you know, I have been traveling with my son the last couple of weeks. I visited my in-laws and my parent's house. I did some relaxing at my Mom's (didn't do half the things I had planned on doing), and then the wildness began!

I found my wedding dress, oh it's nothing like I thought I would get. I had imagined a plain white dress growing up, then had thoughts of this lace keyhole back gown. I did go with the lace and straps, other then that it is NOTHING like I thought I would get. I love it!

My sister, mother and bridesmaid (my long time friend of 26 years) put on a beautiful bridal shower for me. I was blessed yet again with items M and I need. My son even got to taste pop for the first time! Yes, I am a mother that will NOT give my toddler pop. Oh and he snuck a sip of my champagne punch, lol. Thankfully he didn't puke.

Oh and then the bachelorette party. Let's just say this~ it was a blast! My girls know how to party!

I leave you this week with a photo of my absolute favorite place in the whole world. Lake Superior. No matter where I call home, this will forever be my HOME.

Happy Friday everyone!!

Friday Photo Week 18 & 19 {Nebraska Photographer}

Ah, as expected I didn't get a blog posted last week as I was on the road. My son and I drove from our home in northern Nebraska to Minneapolis, MN to my future in-laws. We drove through driving rain, and it turns out we were behind a band of storms that included some tornadoes...not fun. We made it safely and had a wonderful time with my fiance's family.

cutting the cake at my MN bridal shower...oh so good!!

On Monday, my mother and son and I drove from Minneapolis to my parent's house in the Upper Peninsula of MI. It was uneventful and long. It's nice to be sitting here looking at the lake. I always love coming up here. I have yet to go into town, just been relaxing and catching up on my rest. My son is having a blast with the VERY large cat my parents have. Ok, he's my cat from college and when I moved to MN M wouldn't let me bring him! lol He is massive now, and sheds like crazy. Sparty (the cat) is so good with my son. They play and when he has had enough he goes and hides. Then I get asked "Mom, where kitty go?", too funny.

Spartacus Cosmopolitan (Sparty Cosmo)

I am posting my Friday post today because tomorrow I try on wedding dresses!! I am nervous and excited. I know what I want and have an idea in my head, but we will see if it looks as good on me in person. We are going to have our own "bridal room" and my sister, mom, niece and little man will be with me. Will keep you posted if I find "the one"!

Have a wonderful Mother's Day weekend! I am so happy I get to spend it with my sister and Mom!
